The Eruwok Community Training Centre, in Bokondini, opened in April 2015 and is already self-sustaining and providing vital training for around 40 students per month.
The training centre provides a facility for communities within walking distant to use it as a training and information resource, but has already proved so popular that people are travelling some considerable distances to attend the centre and receive training.
Short courses in computers, English, community health and other livelihood skills are based out of the centre. The students pay a small fee to attend the training centre, which ensures the operation is self-sustaining. Having supported the set up of the centre, Papua Partners role is now working, together with the local church diocese, in providing mentoring and guidance for the Eruwok local management board, when needed.
The training centre team are currently raising funds to buy two ovens (around £40 each), three sewing machines (around £100 each) and five more computers (£300 each). They would also like to set up a library for secondary school students (with a budget of £300). Please consider donating to help the Eruwok training centre, or make a regular contribution to Papua Partners to help us provide training to other community groups.
